SDGs Global Practice

Asian elephant 1.jpeg

After hundreds of years, why did a group of wild Asian elephants in Yunnan leave their home and move north and cause a global sensation?

Looking down at the tropical rainforest in Xishuangbanna from the 60-meter-high sky-gazing tree crown, apart from shivering, what else will you find?
Originally the "weeping trees" in the tropical rainforest, how did their white tears become an important source of strategic materials for China? Why is it involved in controversy?

Project experience

We will participate in the observation of ethnic minority villages around Asian elephant activity areas to understand the human geography of the villages and the changing relationship between elephants and villages;
? We will discuss the protection of Asian elephants from different perspectives with many mentors from scientific research institutions ;
We will hike through the original tropical rainforest , look for rainforest phenomena such as plant strangulation and flowers on old stems, and learn about "the crown jewel of the plant kingdom" in the miniature tropical plant world;
? Look for the seeds of the Wangtian tree and learn about the past and present life of the seeds of the Wangtian tree that entered space through the "Tiangong-1" ;
We will set foot on the sky corridor and use the suspended bridge built by the trunks of the sky tree to overlook the entire tropical rain forest and understand the relationship between nature and people;
We will experience the national intangible cultural heritage -elephant foot drumming and Dai pottery making, and learn about the local culture and the secrets of how to get along with nature;
After 6 days of exploration, we will find our connection with nature, find the key to thinking about sustainable issues, and find the direction of our efforts...
What you will get:
Complete the offline scientific examination, and you will receive a research practice certificate issued by the Foreign Exchange Center of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education , the Global Youth Titanium Program, etc .;
Master and practice the basic methods of natural science investigation and social anthropology field investigation;
Learn the scarce and urgent media literacy course , master the basic methods of non-fiction writing, and the basic writing methods of media research reports; write research articles (advanced only);
Cultivation and improvement of core competencies , especially learning drive and teamwork ability;
A set of highly competitive and influential localized social practice + practical background improvement materials on global issues.
