Climate Education on Global Youth Climate Week

Together with other 100 global institutionsGlobal Youth Tie have organized an educational climate action with coordinated actions and a common goal of supporting youth of the world in taking the lead of achieving carbon neutrality.

During the Week from October 31 to November 4, we have reached 125 schools, 600 teachers, and 49500 persons and families both through online and offline activities.

350 students from Chen Huinan Memorial Middle School in Shunde, Guangdong Province, studied the courses.



Activities implemented:

  1. On October 31, we launched of 5 series of Climate Action online courses in total 100 minutes length.
    The online courses are composed be 5 episodes from the facts and knowledge of Climate Change to the instructive methodology of Climate Action both from individual and collective perspective, including the definition, causes analysis, affects, effects, international and domestic policies, possible solutions; and detailed explanation of constrain and reduce carbon emission, as well as climate action in two most relevant scenarios -- schools and communities; last part is emphasizing on feasible actions for every individual.
  2. During November 1-4, we invited 125 schools in Yunnan and across China to participate in organizing students to watch and then share with their parents to adopt at least one tip from lower carbon life style.
    These courses are publicized on Global Youth Tie’s learning source platform and could be accessed freely by anyone through the link ( https://apptylknk8s6501.h5.xiaoeknow.com/p/course/ecourse/course_2FJOQLigosZGdVZ0rFbRGtVgX4p ). During the Global Youth Climate Week, we use social media, mass media and existing network to circulate the information of accessing free, systematic, and in depth Climate Change Education courses for all schools from China.

  • The International College of Yunnan Agricultural University organized more than 100 students to participate in the "Global Youth Climate Week Climate Change Education and Communication activity" by discussing the urgency of CC and how youth could act together.

Up to now, we have provided courses and support to schools from big cities like Beijing, Hangzhou, Shi Jiazhuang, as well as primary schools from the boarder with Vietnam in Yunnan province, and the age groups ranged from 5 years old in the kindergartens up to universities and adults like teachers, parents and grandparents. Many schools organized the entire school students to watch. Nevertheless, it provided the opportunities for students learning at home to learn as alternative to their academic courses. Moreover, some schools and colleges, integrated with other environmental events and organized further discussion or round table events to deepen the students’ understanding and willingness to act.

The feedback is positive. For most of audiences and organizers who watched this series, they commented it as contents is close to students, necessary, vivid explanationand interesting animations, etc..

  • The No. 1 Primary School in Guangnan County, Yunnan Province organized 2,500 students to learn the courses.
