National Teachers Training for SDGs General Education
To enhance public awareness of sustainable living and green consumption, provide opportunities for international and domestic experience exchange and sharing, and promote public participation in China's SDGs, the SDGs General Education Instructor Training, organised by the Sustainable Development Goals Public Education and Participation Partnerships Actions (SDGs PEPPA) Project, was held successfully in China through out the year.
On 18-19 November 2023, The first workshop for elementary-level SDGs General Education Teacher Training, hosted by Global Youth Tie International Education, commenced in Dali, Yunnan.
On 14-15 December 2023, the second elementary-level SDGs General Education Teacher Training was successfully conducted at Beijing World Park International Camp.
On 17-20 May 2024, the third elementary level of SDGs General Education Teacher Training workshop and the first advanced level of the training was held at VIA Building, Tsinghua Science Park, Beijing.
From 20 to 22 September 2024, the elementary and advanced level of SDGs General Education Teacher Training workshop was held in Shenzhen Nanshan district by Global Youth Tie International Education and organized by Shenzhen ShenGuYuan Educational Science and Technology [YueXingXueShe]company, attracted trainees from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing, etc., and they successfully obtained the UN PEPPA Program Certificate.
On 6 December 2024, the "SDGs and Nature Education" sub-forum of the 11th Nature Education Forum was successfully held in Qixi, Zhongshan.
On 7-8 December 2024, the two-day "Elementary level of Training Workshop for SDGs General Education " was successfully held in Qixi, Zhongshan city, Guangdong Province.
On 13 October 2024, an introductory training on General Education on SDGs was held in Gusheng Village, Dali, Yunnan Province. More than 30 university researcher, professors, teachers and students from the 2024 Annual Conference on Rural Regional Development Specialty and Discipline Construction in Higher Education Institutions of China participated in the training workshop.The introductory course provides a systematic theoretical and practical approach to teaching and learning about the background of the SDGs, the goals and their application in the field of ESD, as well as the development of individual growth and sustainable literacy for young scholars.
The SDGs General Education Teacher Training workshop has attracted the participation of many practitioners from the fields of nature education, outdoor sports, higher education, NGO practitioners and corporate ESG. They also provided rich experience in their respective fields and insights to the training.
Based on the Chinese public needs and youth development, Ms Zuo Tao, the Director of SDGs PEPPA program, firstly proposed and developed the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (hereinafter referred to as SDGs) into a general education curriculum system that helps people, especially youth, to enhance their awareness and comprehensive competence and sustainable development literacy.
The SDGs general education curriculum is a learning system constructed to integrate the sustainable principles, social, environment,and economic contents, practices, monitor and evaluation of SDGs, as well as the sustainable knowledge, skills and attitudes related to personal development,in order to inspiring fundamental sustainable conceptual and behavioural changes from learners. It provides personal development planning, pedagogical methods and knowledge systems under educational technology for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in China.
SDGs PEPPA Program's SDGs General Education Training started the first workshop in November 2023, and has held a total of 7 elementary and advanced trainer training workshops in Beijing and Shenzhen, with hundreds of trainers participated in this system.The trained trainers start to provide free training for youth in their respective fields.
The PEPPA Program will continue to promote SDGs general education training and practice, and plans to train 300 SDGs general education trainers in the next three years, to promote Chinese youth's growth on sustainable development through the participatory teaching curriculum system, and to contribute to the construction of China's ecological civilisation.
