The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the China International Economic and Technological Exchange Center of the Ministry of Commerce have collaborated with the People's Government of Neixiang County, Henan Province to carry out the "Henan Neixiang County Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development Demonstration Project" in Neixiang. Based on the specific county situation, a series of research courses have been designed, hoping to achieve sustainable development in Neixiang through this means. The series of graduate courses has been developed recently and will be implemented among tens of thousands of primary and secondary school students in Neixiang County.
Shenzhen Tiyou Yisi International Research Institute is committed to providing solutions to promote the socialization of China's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The institution has participated in the development of courses at the Israel Agricultural Park Research Base, Neixiang County Government Research Base, and Neixiang Liyi Gongju Research Base in Neixiang County. The head of the institution, Zuo Tao, introduced that this set of courses is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and combined with the specific situation of three campsites. 20 sets of research and learning course packages covering all age groups from kindergarten to secondary school have been designed, and training has been provided for the existing teaching staff in the campsites. The ultimate goal of this series of courses is to better promote the localization of sustainable development goals from the perspective of youth education. Access to more equitable educational opportunities and higher quality educational resources is a prerequisite for young people in counties to fully develop their potential, and sustainable upward development in social, economic, ecological, and cultural aspects depends on young people with sustainable development awareness and skills joining as new forces.
The course leader Tiemu introduced that the development of courseware and manual writing for the Neixiang County Equal Education Project is a collaborative process involving multiple parties. With strong support from government departments such as the Neixiang County Government, the Neixiang County Education and Sports Bureau, and the Ministry of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, etc., and efficient coordination from the UNDP Neixiang Project Coordinator, the course team spent three months designing this set of courses. This set of courses has obvious characteristics. For example, the courses of Neixiang County Government mostly reflect the significance of ancient rule of law culture for the construction of today's rule of law China. The courses of Israel Agricultural Park have introduced content on youth nutrition, and Li Yi Gongju has added content on agricultural civilization and vocational education.
In 2019, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the China International Economic and Technological Exchange Center (CICTE) of the Ministry of Commerce, and the People's Government of Neixiang County collaborated to implement the UNDP Neixiang Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development Demonstration Project. This is the first county-level sustainable development demonstration project of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in China. The project aims to introduce advanced development concepts, enhance the awareness and ability of government personnel for sustainable development, mobilize the private sector, social forces, and other partners to actively participate in local sustainable development, carry out community governance, ecotourism, and inclusive finance, improve public services, especially focusing on activities such as the well-being of women, youth, and children.
